Tarheel Bark, originally owned by Baucom’s Nursery, was founded in 1985 to support Baucom’s growing floriculture operations. Garick acquired Tarheel Bark in the spring of 2007. Tarheel produces growing media, mulches, soils, and organic materials to hundreds of customers in North Carolina, South Carolina, and other areas in the Southeast United States. Garick also continues to sell and provide Baucom's Nursery with its specific custom mixes. 

Garick prides itself on its commitment to the environment by accepting organic green waste and recycling it into reusable compost products. Garick saw an opportunity in Tarheel Bark because of the similar operations to its existing manufacturing facilities.  Like Garick's other facilities, Tarheel accepts organic green waste and uses it to produce mulches and soils.  These mulches and soils are then either placed in bags or sold in bulk.
