Maintenance Supervisor - Cumming, GA
Smith Garden Products, a division of Garick LLC, is a major supplier to the horticultural, lawn, and garden industries with a diverse line of over 50 products. Smith Garden Products has a processing operation in Cumming, GA which bales and bags soil and mulch. Due to company growth this location has an immediate opening for a Maintenance Supervisor.
Reporting to the General Manager is responsible for the effective management and maintenance of the Cumming, GA equipment. This role will interact with Smith Garden Products suppliers, customers, employees and applicable government agencies
In addition this position is specifically responsible for:
- Planning, coordinating and directing all equipment operation activities at assigned wood waste processing and composting facilities, including the facilities and equipment, for wood waste processing, waste and other agricultural and industrial derived organic waste and composting operations to ensure quality production and compliance with all federal and state environmental requirements. The Maintenance Supervisor is also responsible for the safety, training, and development of all fulltime, part time, and contingency staff, while on our Facility grounds.
- Manage the proactive maintenance of a variety of light, medium and heavy duty motorized general hauling, construction, and maintenance equipment that are utilized in the daily operation of the facilities. This position has the responsibility for overseeing the routine servicing, minor repairs and maintenance of all facility equipment. This responsibility includes supervising the operating condition of the equipment as well as insures all safety checks are performed prior to equipment being operated by reviewing and maintaining operator level maintenance check forms The Maintenance Supervisor will oversee that maintenance of the tools and equipment used for all assigned equipment. In addition the Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the safe use of fuels in all the vehicles and equipment and insures their safe operation. The Maintenance Supervisor will insures all safety checks are performed regularly and that all vehicles/equipment are cleaned and maintained and are in proper working order daily.
- Ensures all maintenance staff follow safety practices in work methods and procedures; enforces proper safety procedures while working performing all duties as assigned; educates employees on rules, regulations, codes, safe work habits and potential hazards that may be presented by their work environment.
- Evaluating the performance of assigned staff; establishes performance expectations and personal and professional development targets; with management approval, takes disciplinary action to correct or modify performance deficiencies, in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Repair and maintain electrical and mechanical equipment, such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, computer-controlled systems, and production machines and equipment while trying to stay within the facilities allotted maintenance budget

- May set up and/or operate plant production type of equipment at any time for the amount of time required to perform work of non-production nature necessary to the performance of maintenance duties such as saws, lift trucks, etc.
- Overall responsible for the plant's preventative maintenance (PM) plan - Perform routine preventive maintenance and ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, operate efficiently, and the physical condition does not deteriorate.

Qualifications:
- 4 year college degree or equivalent experience
- Bilingual English / Spanish a plus.
- Minimum of 1-3 years management/supervisory experience.

Performs a wide variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the operation of a variety of light, medium and heavy duty motorized general hauling, construction, and maintenance equipment utilized in the operation of the assigned facilities. This position is to help launch our Organics Waste Collection Program in the Cleveland market. Our program includes totter-pick up of organic wastes from restaurants, universities, schools, food processing companies and hospitals. This is a full-time, Seasonal position. Responsibilities Include:
